ARTBy Jannie emerged where survival’s weight met the choice to live. I paint the emotional tilt, life’s continual re-creation without collapse. Drawing in courage and strength from inlet mists, ancestral threads, and the (mostly) quiet alchemy of transmuting many old neural patternings.
These expressions aren’t declarations.
They are my quiet, yet colourful, assertions of heartfulness over dense noises, offered for anyone on the journey of navigating their own shifts.
Transformation shows up for me in the everyday returns. Not a dramatic chrysalis burst, but the simple repeated act of coming back to what nourishes. Brush to canvas, intuition steering every stroke, emotions gnarled up and then released as my heart connects.

My studio space serves as a small sacred battleground. There are brushes raised, acrylic paints splattering, moods shifting! All this while journeys, seascapes, landscapes, dream beings, and ancestral whispers are leaping to life. I welcome the unpredictability, the colourful chaos.
Paintings often appear through their own whispered prose, always inviting self-reflection or asserting bold new viewpoints.
Humour serves as my elegant judo; a quiet wink toward the old binaries and costumes, then onto disarming pomp and pretence without demanding raw applause.
Vulnerability is my practical courage. By calling the spade a spade. By lowering my physical standards on rough days. By reaching out for support instead of martyring myself. Emotional self-care as a priority even at the bare minimum.
Most of my original paintings and photographs now travel beyond the canvas and paper as purses, handbags, beach bags, wrist wallets, and backpacks. Each one carrying that expressionistic pulse woven through my travels to Iceland, Mexico and Ontario. Excursions with rhythms, inspiration and depth.
Metal Prints with stands arrived through my senses. Copal incense burning, watching leaf shadows dance across cobblestones, feeling polyvagal spirals of energies, and hearing whispered words uttering rich historic perceptions from adventuring. A must for those looking to deepen their own visions.
